The TN Enhanced Carry Permit class is an 8-hour class that covers all information and certification needed to receive your permit. This class is taught by firearms professionals with years of real-world experience to best prepare you for the responsibility of carrying a handgun. The course covers liability while carrying, related laws, use of lethal force, gun/range safety, as well as safe weapon storage.

BEFORE THE CLASS:

You must go to https://dl.safety.tn.gov/_/ to fill out a handgun carry permit application. Bring the confirmation number from this application to the class. We must have this number so we can properly notify the state that you have passed the course.

What To Expect:

This is an 8-hour class (please arrive 15-30 minutes early). The course will equip you with all the knowledge required to effectively and legally open or concealed carry in the state of Tennessee. The class consists of both classroom portion and firing range portion.

The classroom instruction will be followed by a 50-question written test that must be passed in order to obtain the permit. The firing range portion will be 50 rounds of ammunition fired at 3 yards (20 rounds), 5 yards (20 rounds), and 7 yards (10 rounds). Expect some breaks throughout the class as well as a lunch break in the middle of the day.
